Community foundation awards scholarships

The Smoky Valley Community Foundation has awarded over $34,000 in scholarships to area students for the upcoming academic year.

  • The Brandon Rogers Technology Scholarship is for a senior graduating from Smoky Valley High School majoring in the field of technology. Joshua Peterson, Lindsborg, received a $1,000 scholarship.
  • The Clyde And Glenn Lindstrom Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School or Smoky Valley Virtual Charter who are pursuing a post-secondary education in a vocational field. The following students each received a $5,000 scholarship: Ethan Oestmann, Lindsborg, Lane Schrag, Lindsborg, and Kaj Sjogren, Lindsborg.
  • The Dorothy J. Ziegler Music and Art Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School who plan to major in either performing arts or visual arts. Gracie Lott and Adam Tillberg, both of Lindsborg, each received a $4,000 scholarship.
  • The Judith K. Burch Scholarship is for graduates of Smoky Valley High School planning to attend Bethany College, with preference for students planning to major in mathematics or science education, mathematics or science. Avery Dauer, Lindsborg, received a $1,000 scholarship.
  • The Louis, Ron and Tom Westman Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School. The following students received a $1,000 scholarship: Gracie Lott, Lindsborg, Kaylee Hansen, Falun, Adam Tillberg, Lindsborg, Cort Elliott, Lindsborg, Luisa Junqueira, Lindsborg, and Lindsey Gerlach, Lindsborg.
  • The Mona Peterson Community Service Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School, the Smoky Valley Home Educators or the Lindsborg Area Home Educators. The following students all from Lindsborg received a $302 scholarship: Haven Sjogren, Cort Elliott, Carson Byers, Adam Tillberg.
  • The Smoky Valley Elementary Education Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School, or home-schooled graduating students living in the Smoky Valley District, who plan to major in elementary education. Adam Tillberg and Avery Dauer both of Lindsborg, received a $1,000 scholarship.

The foundation is home to eight scholarship funds, which were established by area donors to support students pursuing higher education. More information about the scholarship program can be found at www.smokyvalleycf.org/scholarships.
