Community foundation awards spring grants

The Smoky Valley Community Foundation awarded $9,540 during its spring grant cycle. Projects were funded through the Smoky Valley Healthy Living Fund and Smoky Valley Community Enhancement Fund.

The following organizations received funding:

  • Lindsborg at Work Association, $1,748, to cover the insurance cost that it will incur from sponsorship of several community events.
  • Midsummer’s Festival, $1,500, for the annual Midsummer’s Festival in Lindsborg.
  • McPherson County Community Foundation, dba Circles of McPherson County, $1,500, to launch a new youth curriculum in Lindsborg, aimed at surrounding kids with caring and trained adults.
  • Saline RWD #1, $1,342, to support the installation of a storm/emergency preparedness warning siren for the Falun Community.
  • Bethany Lutheran Church, $1,250, to conduct a two-day suicide first aid class.
  • Lindsborg Community Library, $1,000, to promote environmentally friendly lifestyle choices by providing a water fountain that encourages reusable water bottles and library materials on practical sustainable living options.
  • Sprout House Learning Center, $700, to build a Sprout House Garden.
  • Bethany College, $500, to support the Bethany College Choir and Handbells trip to Germany and Sweden.
