Keep 5 in Kansas

Keep Five in KansasThink about what matters to you.

The church where you worship.  The schools your children attend.  The park where your grandchildren love to play.  A local charity you care deeply about.

How can you ensure that the things that make your community unique continue, long after you’re gone?

Right now, we have an opportunity to create a better future for the Smoky Valley area.  By keeping 5% of our county’s wealth through the Smoky Valley Community Foundation, we can improve our quality of life and strengthen the communities we call home.

Discover the potential.

The Keep 5 in Kansas campaign is designed to share the message to all Kansans of the importance of leaving a legacy for our hometowns and communities through the power of endowment.

Our state is currently experiencing an unprecedented transfer of wealth, as estates change hand from one generation to the next.  By 2020, the transfer of wealth in Kansas is estimated to be $79 billion, and will increase to $598 billion by 2064.  In McPherson County, $824.5 million will transfer from one generation to the next by 2020.

If we “Keep 5 in Kansas,”  by capturing just 5% of this wealth transfer in our county, $41.2 million could be preserved in a community foundation endowment creating over $2 million in annual grants to benefit the Smoky Valley area.  Just imagine the possibilities for your community!
