Smoky Valley Community Foundation announces spring grant recipients

LINDSBORG, Kan.— During its spring grant cycle, the Smoky Valley Community Foundation awarded over $11,000 to six projects throughout the Smoky Valley area. The following organizations received funding:

  • Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church – KICK, $3,000 to fund supplies for the children’s program.
  • Broadway RFD, $3,000 to upgrade the electrical on the Swenson Memorial Band Shell.
  • Marquette Learning Center, Inc., $2,925 to purchase two AED machines for the center.
  • Midsummer’s Festival, $1,312 to purchase Kubb Tournament sets for the festival.
  • Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, $1,270 to support the Dala Pantry, a community food bank for Lindsborg.
  • Lindsborg At Work Association, $750 to support the annual Lindsborg Street Dance.

This round of grants was made possible by five funds at the community foundation: the Smoky Valley Enhancement Fund, which focuses on improving quality of life throughout the Smoky Valley area, Healthy Living Fund and Kansas Health Foundation for Smoky Valley, and Heritage Fund.
