Over $20,000 Awarded in Spring Grants
The Smoky Valley Community Foundation awarded over $20,000 to 8 local organizations during its Spring Grant Cycle.
- Midsummer’s Festival, $2,735.00 to support the Midsummer’s Festival activities.
- Dala Pantry, $1,000.00 to support the weekend food bags summer program.
- Lindsborg Community Library, $3,000.00 to support the purchase of three library tables.
- Lindsborg Old Mill and Swedish Heritage Museum, $3,000.00 to support the photo preservation project.
- City of Lindsborg, $3,000.00 to support phase 2 of replacing missing pioneer graves at Elmwood Cemetery.
- Svensk Hyllningsfest, Inc., $3,000.00 to support a videographer for the festival.
- Bethany Home Association, $3,000.00 to purchase new lighting fixtures.
- Lindsborg Arts Council, $2,250.00 to support the performers for the Echoes of the North: A Swedish Winter’s Tale.
This round of grants was made possible by four funds at the community foundation: the Smoky Valley Community Enhancement Fund, which focuses on improving quality of life throughout the Smoky Valley area, the Heritage Fund, which supports the work of the local community in enhancing, strengthening, and promoting the heritage of the Smoky Valley area, and the Kansas Health Foundation Fund for Smoky Valley and the Smoky Valley Healthy Living Fund which promotes healthy lifestyles, behaviors and environments. The next grant cycle will open August 15, 2025, and will close October 15, 2025.
