Scholarship Recipients Announced
Community foundation awards scholarships
LINDSBORG, Kan.— The Smoky Valley Community Foundation has awarded over $56,000 in scholarships to area students for the upcoming academic year. The following students received scholarships:
- The Brandon Rogers Technology Scholarship is for a senior graduating from Smoky Valley High School majoring in the field of technology. Jamison Sattler, Marquette, received a $1,000 scholarship.
- The Clyde and Glenn Lindstrom Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School or Smoky Valley Virtual Charter who are pursuing a post-secondary education in a vocational field. Braunson Golden, Marquette, James Oestmann, Lindsborg, Brandt Heble, Lindsborg, Samuel Blackham, Lindsborg, Cayson Lindquist, Marquette, and Brandon Malm, Lindsborg, all received $4,000 scholarships. Taylor Barnes and Chancey Kruckenberg, both of Lindsborg, each received a renewed $3,000 scholarship.
- The Dorothy J. Ziegler Music and Art Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School who plan to major in either performing arts or visual arts. Jacob Lucas, Lindsborg, received a $4,000 scholarship. Gracelyn Gaskill and Elaina McMillan, both of Lindsborg, each received a renewed $4,000 scholarship.
- The Charles Englund Memorial Scholarship is for Bethany College juniors or seniors majoring in a medical or pre-medical field. Jacob Adams, Lindsborg, received a $1,763 scholarship.
- The Judith K. Burch Scholarship is for graduates of Smoky Valley High School planning to attend Bethany College, with preference for students planning to major in mathematics or science education, mathematics, or science. Kort Sjogren, Lindsborg, received a $1,000 scholarship.
- The Louis, Ron and Tom Westman Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School. The following students received a $1,000 scholarship: Chloe Wolf, Abigail Hipp, Karik Elliot, Claire Broxterman, Ileia Wampler, Jacob Lucas and Jacqueline Waugh, all of Lindsborg.
- The Mona Peterson Community Service Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School, the Smoky Valley Home Educators or the Lindsborg Area Home Educators that are involved in community service activities. Kajsa Peterson, Lindsborg, received a $353 scholarship. Elyse Ramsey, Lindsborg, received a $350 scholarship. Karik Elliot and Ellie Brumbaugh, both of Lindsborg, each received $275 scholarships.
- The Smoky Valley Elementary Education Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School, or home-schooled graduating students living in the Smoky Valley District, who plan to major in elementary education. Chloe Wolf and Addie Heitschmidt, both of Lindsborg, each received $1,000 scholarships.
