Smoky Valley Community Foundation announces spring grant recipients

LINDSBORG, Kan.— During its spring grant cycle, the Smoky Valley Community Foundation awarded over $17,000 to nine projects throughout the Smoky Valley area. The following organizations received funding:

  • USD 400, $2,950 to purchase a CYC curtain which serves as a backdrop for theatrical products and concerts and for 1 LED lights needed for the curtain.
  • City of Lindsborg, $3,000 to help provide funding to be able to continue making improvements including trees and shade areas to the NE ball field shared by the City of Lindsborg and USD 400.
  • Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, $1,760 to fund Food Scarcity Programs of Messiah Lutheran Church.
  • Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, $3,000 to help fund the Kids in Christ’s Kingdom, an after school ministry and meal for any and all Lindsborg-Smoky Valley area students ages Kindergarten through 6th grade.
  • Dala Pantry, $1,700 to fund the Dala Pantry weekend food bags summer program that ensures all children living in the Smoky Valley School District have enough to eat on the weekends over summer break.
  • Bethany College, $700 to help fund “Coffee and Common Ground” in which students will lead community members through activities designed to find common ground for those with differeing opinions.
  • Lindsborg Recreation, $1,515 to purchase a swimming pace clock to enhance swim team practices to improve individual and team performances.
  • Trinity United Methodist Church, $1,500 to fund a landscaping project of spading in one large tree, plat a balled and burlaped tree, and replace rose bushes in the Peace Garden.
  • Bethany College, $1,200 to help fund the Messiah History project for the 150 year anniversary of the Messiah Festival.

 

This round of grants was made possible by the Smokey Valley Community Enhancement Fund, created by individuals who have contributed money to the foundation for charitable uses to address the present and future needs of the Smokey Valley area and the Smoky Valley Healthy Living Fund, created to support the public health of the Smoky Valley Area.
