Community foundation awards scholarships

LINDSBORG, Kan.— The Smoky Valley Community Foundation has awarded over $70,000 in scholarships to area students for the upcoming academic year. The following students received scholarships:

  • The Jay Steinberg Music Scholarship is for a senior graduating from Smoky Valley High School majoring in the field of music. Myah Stambaugh-Tubbs, Lindsborg, received a $900 scholarship.
  • The Brandon Rogers Technology Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School majoring in the field of technology. Kellon Johnsen and Haven Lysell-Stewart, Lindsborg, both received a $1,250 scholarship.
  • The Clyde and Glenn Lindstrom Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School or Smoky Valley Virtual Charter who are pursuing a post-secondary education in a vocational field. Braiden Weis, Justice Gardner, George Moore, Garret Huffman, Grant Kearn, Gabriel Gadde, Lydia Peterson, and Elizabeth Lambert, all of Lindsborg, all received $4,000 scholarships. Brandt Heble, Lindsborg, Cayson Lindquist, Marquette, James Oestmann, Lindsborg, Samuel Blackham, Lindsborg, Braunson Golden, Marquette, and Brandon Malm, Lindsborg, each received a renewed $1,500 scholarship.
  • The Dorothy J. Ziegler Music and Art Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School who plan to major in either performing arts or visual arts. Riley Ahlstedt, Lindsborg, received a $4,000 scholarship. Jacob Lucas, Lindsborg, received a renewed $4,000 scholarship.
  • The Judith K. Burch Scholarship is for graduates of Smoky Valley High School planning to attend Bethany College, with preference for students planning to major in mathematics or science education, mathematics, or science. Riley Ahlstedt, Lindsborg, received a $1,500 scholarship.
  • The Louis, Ron and Tom Westman Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School. The following students received a $1,250 scholarship: Kellon Johnsen, Aubrey Boldra, Gracyn Bauer, Myah Stambaugh-Tubbs, Haven Lysell-Stewart and Emma Littich, all of Lindsborg.
  • The Mona Peterson Community Service Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School, the Smoky Valley Home Educators or the Lindsborg Area Home Educators that are involved in community service activities. Chloe Patrick and Haven Lysell-Stewart, both of Lindsborg, each received $662.50 scholarships.
  • The Smoky Valley Elementary Education Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Smoky Valley High School, or home-schooled graduating students living in the Smoky Valley District, who plan to major in elementary education. Haven Lysell-Stewart and Emma Littich, both of Lindsborg, each received $2,500 scholarships.
