Smoky Valley Community Foundation scholarships available

LINDSBORG, Kan.—The Smoky Valley Community Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2023-2024 school year. The following nine scholarship funds are available to students in the Smoky Valley area:

  • Jay Steinberg Music Scholarship, for graduating Smoky Valley High School seniors planning to major in the field of music.
  • Brandon Rogers Technology Scholarship, for graduating Smoky Valley High School seniors planning to major in the field of technology.
  • Charles Englund Memorial Scholarship, for Bethany College juniors or seniors majoring in a medical or pre-medical field.
  • Clyde and Glenn Lindstrom Scholarship, for graduating high school seniors or graduates of Smoky Valley High School or Smoky Valley Virtual Charter seniors pursuing education in a vocational field.
  • Dorothy J. Ziegler Music and Art Scholarship, for graduating Smoky Valley High School seniors majoring in either the performing arts or visual arts.
  • Judith K. Burch Scholarship, for graduating Smoky Valley High School seniors planning to attend Bethany College. Preference will be given to those planning to major in mathematics or science teaching, mathematics or science.
  • Louis, Ron and Tom Westman Scholarship, for graduating Smoky Valley High School seniors.
  • Mona Peterson Community Service Scholarship, for graduating high school seniors from Smoky Valley High School, the Smoky Valley Home Educators or the Lindsborg Area Home Educators.
  • Smoky Valley Elementary Education Scholarship, for graduating Smoky Valley High School seniors or graduating home-school students living in the Smoky Valley district who plan to major in elementary education.

All scholarship applications must be submitted through the foundation’s online scholarship portal by February 15, 2023. Scholarships will be awarded by mid-April. The application portal and scholarship guidelines can be found at www.smokyvalleycf.org/scholarships.

Last year, the community foundation awarded over $70,000 in scholarships to area students.
